New Collective Labour Agreement for Research Institutes: 8.83% increase

The Employers' Organization for Research Institutes and the trade unions have come to an agreement with regard to the new Collective Labour Agreement for Research Institutes. The Collective Labour Agreement runs from 1 January 2008 until 1 July 2010 and provides for an 8.3% wage increase plus a single payment of 0.5%. The Collective Labour Agreement applies to some three thousand employees.
The Collective Labour Agreement comprises three main issues:

  • All salaries will be increased by 3.2 percent as of 1 March 2008. In addition, a single payment will be made in March of 0.5% of the annual salary.
  • As of 1 January 2009 there will be a structural increase of 3.53%, of which 1.3% will be used for raising the salary scales as of 1 January 2009 and 2.23% for increasing the end-of-year bonus. Employees will consequently receive a full 13th month bonus.
  • As of 1 January 2010, all salary scale amounts will be increased by 1.6%.
  • A joint study has been agreed upon into a life-phase-conscious personnel policy based on the principle that employees can continue to work effectively and healthily in each phase of their lives and can actively shape their careers (employability). This policy will replace the current age-based schemes.
  • The Personal Development Plan will be converted into a Professional Development Plan (POP). Focus will be on the link between personal development, organisation development and development in/of the profession.
  • The training budget will be increased from 0.8% to 1.2% of the average pay.
  • During the course of the Collective Labour Agreement, experiments will be carried out related to tenure track. For this experiment a number of conditions will be included in the Collective Labour Agreement.
  • The number of leave hours to be sold through the conditions of employment options, will - under certain conditions – be increased from 80 hours to a maximum of 120 hours per calendar year.
