FOM Institute AMOLF

The FOM Institute AMOLF focuses on two research lines within fundamental research:

· Centre for Physics and Biomolecular systems
  ◦ Biomolecular dynamics and interactions
  ◦ Supramolecular structures and active biomaterials
  ◦ Spatio-temporal design of biomolecular networks

· Centre for Nanophotonics
  ◦ Photonic and plasmonic light sources
  ◦ Dispersion control and nanoscale confinement of light
  ◦ Integrated photonic circuits

In addition to this, AMOLF is currently undertaking an exploratory research programme in order to initiate new scientific directions.

Scientists at AMOLF develop new research methods and techniques for these disciplines and in so doing they establish crossdisciplinary links. They also pass the knowledge and skills required on to each other and to young researchers and technicians. The latter move on into positions in Dutch industry, the government and education.

AMOLF participates in a large number of national and international partnerships with other knowledge institutes and industry. The institute makes it facilities available to university and industrial researchers.
