The current mission of the
FOM Institute DIFFER (Dutch Institute for Fundamental Energy Research) is:
- Carrying out high-quality scientific research and developing the methods and techniques needed for this in the areas of:
- fusion physics;
- the production and application of terahertz radiation;
- nanolayer film and surface physics.
- The training of students, PhDs and technicians.
- The dissemination of scientific and technical knowledge to the wider public.
Over the next few years, FOM intends to make considerable investments in stimulating fundamental energy research and it has decided to expand its Institute DIFFER, the Dutch base for research into nuclear fusion, into an institute for fundamental energy research with a national coordinating role. The main location will be housed on the campus of Eindhoven University of Technology. You can find further information about the relocation of DIFFER and the expansion of the Institute on
a separate page.
